ARGOLIS. Epidauros. Antoninus Pius, 138-161. Diassarion (Bronze, 23.5 mm, 6.46 g, 3 h). ΑΝΤΩ -ΝΕΙΝΟC ΑΥΓ Laureate head of Antoninus Pius to right. Rev. ΙΕΡΑC ΕΠΙ - ΔΑΥΡΟΥ Statue of Hygeia to left, feeding snake from a phiale held in her right hand and resting her left on an uncertain object to her right; all within a tetrastyle round temple with a conical roof. NCP pl. L, vi and pl. GG, viii. RPC 9428.2 (same dies). Very rare, clear, and with a dark patina. Traces of corrosion and careful cleaning/smoothing in the field, otherwise, about very fine.
From the Maleatas Collection, and from those of BCD, Petsalis and A. Rhousopoulos, with the original ticket of c. 1905.
